Merino kallas Merinofårets fina och särskilt mjuka ull. Ullen är mycket elastisk och kan spinnas till ett väldigt fintrådigt garn. Tjockleken på fibrerna (~22 micron) är till stor del ett resultat av den miljö som fåren lever i. Merinofåren betar på stora arealer på Nya Zeeland samt går ute året om. Självklart fria från mulesing!
